Red And Blue PS3's Heading For Japan

Wednesday, 14 September 2011 0 comments

With the white Playstation 3 on its way to Austrailia and Europe, Japan decided to say "Well, that's not going to fly" and decided to introduce two new colors that will rock your world. If you're like me, when you first read this you said "What the eff. Red and Blue? Terrible. I don't want no Pokemon PS3" but on first glance, you might say "Splendid! What elegant colors! I would love a Pokemon PS3!". The official color names are "Splash Blue" and "Scarlet Red". They will feature the 320GB Hard drives, as well. If you want one, you better call that pretend in Japan that you don't have and get him to hold on to one for you.

"Splash Blue" for PS3 ® in the "sea spray popping" adopted a fresh metallic blue reminiscent of the "Scarlet Red" is "sun shining and glistening flame," reminiscent of a bright metallic adopted a tone of red.

...Right!

Resistance 3 Included (Again) With Pre-Order Of Sony 3D TV For Limited Time

Monday, 29 August 2011 3 comments

MjolnirX - Our titles are getting ridiculously long. We have so much info to pack in them, that there's hardly  a point reading any further!

It seem that Sony is, again, including Resistance 3 with the 24" Sony 3D TV, even after pulling the game from  the bundle and replacing it with MotorStorm: Apocalypse. This is, however, for a limited time. After September 3rd, you will no longer be able to get Resistance 3 with the bundle.

A 24" 3D TV just doesn't cut it for me. The smallest TV I play games on is 48". Going from my 65" in my living room to 55" in my man-cave was hard enough. I can't see me ever downgrading that far. By no means am I saying this is a bad deal, but I just don't see a market for 24" monitors/TV's. Prove me wrong.
The bundle will include:
 - 24" 1080p 240hz Sony TV that will allow to users to see two different images, and includes a built-in subwoofer
 - HDMI Cable
 - Resistance 3 and/or Motorstorm: Apocalypse

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive To Have Cross-Platform Play (Except For 360)

Friday, 26 August 2011 1 comments

Castrum - CS: GO will feature cross-platform online play (as in, PC gamers can play against PS3 gamers) at launch. To counteract the advantage PC gamers would have over console gamers, PS3 players can use a Keyboard/Mouse setup instead of the DualShock 3 controller.

However, the 360 is being left out of this equation, partly because of Microsoft's asinine restrictions on Xbox Live, and partly because Gabe Newell is a Sony sell-out.

PS3 Sales In The UK Spike After Price Drop

Tuesday, 23 August 2011 0 comments

Castrum - Can't say I'm surprised, though I imagined everyone in Britain already had a PS3 now, what with all that looting going on:
Proving once again that making something less expensive prompts more people to buy said thing, MCV is reporting that UK sales of the PlayStation 3 have spiked in the wake of its recent price drop. MCV doesn't offer specific numbers, though a source claimed that sales of the console have risen sixty-five percent in the last week.

After 3 Years Of People Not Caring, Sony Turning Home Into A Game

Castrum - So it would seem Sony is finally going to do something with Home. About damn time:

The new PlayStation Home, Sony says, represents the social platform's "evolution from a virtual environment to a world of games, with a focus on rapidly connecting players with game content that pertains to their style and mood." Gone will be much of the architecture of the current Home, replaced by a space called the Hub and a series of districts based on themes, a digital Disney World designed with core gamers in mind.

The Hub of the new Home is a sleek, bright entrance into this redesigned world. The new entrance to Home, the Hub looks like a futuristic airport or mall—clean, populated by virtual shoppers and travelers, and drawing some visual influence from Valve's Portal 2. It has been designed to get Home visitors to destinations and games faster; to pop you into a social space, not an empty apartment; and to immediately have "a huge game staring you in the face as soon as you come in," says Jack Buser, director of PlayStation Home.

...

From the Hub, PS3 owners can also visit Home's new districts, each inspired by the Tomorrowland and Adventureland of Disney World, each loosely themed around video game genres.
Home's Action District is geared toward the Call of DutyResistance and Killzone player, with an "urban feel reminiscent of a first-person shooter level" that "provides a direct travel point to action and horror games." Whether we'll actually be able to shoot our fellow Home visitors in the face, or just give them finger guns while dancing with them, remains to be seen.
The Adventure District is more suited for the Tomb Raider and Uncharted fan, an area designed as a "lush island jungle with an air of mystery, hidden treasure and discovery." I got a peek at the Adventure District at this year's E3 and was impressed by its ancient architecture and detailed idols. It's one of the more intriguing areas, as it may be home to the most interesting quests and treasure hunts the new Home has to offer. (It was also previously rolled into the Action District, but Sony split the two after early feedback.)

PS Vita Has More RAM Than PS3, Can Handle Cross-Game Chat

Thursday, 18 August 2011 0 comments

Castrum - So that was the reason why they never implemented it on PS3. Interesting:
More is always better, right? For Sony's upcoming PlayStation Vita portable, more RAM means it has some features that big brother PlayStation 3 doesn't: namely, cross-game chat, courtesy of the console's Party system. "So the reason why we were able to include something like Party, which enables cross-game voice chat," Sony Worldwide Studios prez Shuhei Yoshida told Eurogamer, "is because we designed Vita so it always has enough resources to handle something like that behind the game while it's running."
