Modern Warfare 3 Themed Xbox 360 Exposed

Friday, 2 September 2011 1 comments

MjolnirX - Major Nelson has announced a new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3-themed Xbox 360. It will, of course, be the super-sized 320GB model, and will come with two themed wireless controllers. The Xbox also has custom sounds for powering on and opening the disc tray, like the now-delayed Star Wars-themed Xbox 360. If having a gun-metal gray console is going to clash with your carefully-selected TV stand in your Feng Shui-arranged house, fear not. The controllers will be available separately for $60, and will include download codes for in-game content not yet announced.

Microsoft also announced an Xbox 360-themed Bluetooth headset which will be $70, and will also come with an exclusive download code for DLC. This may be to compete with Turtle Beach's themed headsets. The bundle also includes, of course, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and a month of free Xbox Live Gold.

This monster bundle will cost $399, which isn't too bad of a deal, but it seems like a long way to go for a new, probably unnecessary console. It is due out on November 8th, 2011.

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine Gets Free Co-Op "Exterminatus" DLC In October

MjolnirX - Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine is due out September 6th (in North America), but will not ship with a co-op component. Instead, THQ will later release co-op as DLC, titled "Exterminatus". It won't arrive until early October, but at least it will be free. Unlike certain Capcom games, whose names we will not mention.

There will be two new scenarios, Assault on Hab Center Andreas and Escape From Kalkys Facility, that your four-man, three-class group can blast their way through. Your experience will count towards your multiplayer ranks as well.

Press Release:
CO-OP ANNOUNCED FOR WARHAMMER®40,000®: SPACE MARINE®

Stand-alone Four-Player Exterminatus Mode coming as free DLC in October

AGOURA HILLS, Calif. Sep 2, 2011 – THQ Inc. (NASDAQ: THQI) today announced that a free playable co-op mode, called 'Exterminatus' is scheduled to be available to download in early October for its upcoming 3rd Person Action/Shooter, Warhammer® 40,000®: Space Marine®.

Space Marine's Exterminatus mode pits an elite squad of four Space Marines against hordes of alien enemies in a score based fight to the death. Players can choose the Tactical Marine, Devastator or Assault Marine as well as utilizing any weapons and perks available to those classes.

Each of Exterminatus Mode's scenarios, 'Assault on Hab Center Andreas' and 'Escape From Kalkys Facility' feature global leader boards challenging players to better their scores by completing dynamic challenges as well as utilizing score modifiers which increase game difficulty in exchange for additional points.

Experience earned while playing this mode counts towards the game's multiplayer ranks, allowing players to earn progression in both Co-Op and multiplayer.

Space Marine's Co-op mode is scheduled to be available for free to all players in early October. Space Marine is scheduled to be available for Xbox 360®video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Playstation®3 computer entertainment system and Windows PC on September 6th.

About Space Marine
When wave after wave of savage ORKS descend upon the Forge World GRAIA, it is up to humanity's greatest warriors to win the planet back.

They are SPACE MARINES, genetically modified, encased in hallowed armor, the equivalent of one hundred lesser men. They live only to defend the Imperium, and to slay its enemies in a war that never ends.

CAPTAIN TITUS, along with his comrades LEANDROS and SIDONUS, lead a detachment of these Space Marines onto the Forge World. There, they quickly discover that the fight against the Orks is not all that requires their attention. An Imperial Inquisitor named DROGAN needs help securing an experimental POWER SOURCE, before the Orks do so themselves.

The Gunstringer Demo Out Now

MjolnirXIt looks like Twisted Pixel's Third-Person Shooter is now available as a demo on Xbox Live Arcade. I'm grabbing it as soon as possible, and I'll let you know how it turns out.
The Gunstringer is set as a play which takes place in the Old West. The game is played as though it were acted out on a theatre stage. It begins with live action footage in a theater where people have attended to see the show. The setting of the play revolves around a character known simply as The Gunstringer, an undead marionette sheriff betrayed by his posse. The game begins as he rises from his grave, bent on revenge.

In unrelated news, it looks like there's a GUNSTRINGER DEMO out RIGHT NOW! Look underneath Demos on your Xbox 360.

Resistance 3 Included (Again) With Pre-Order Of Sony 3D TV For Limited Time

Monday, 29 August 2011 3 comments

MjolnirX - Our titles are getting ridiculously long. We have so much info to pack in them, that there's hardly  a point reading any further!

It seem that Sony is, again, including Resistance 3 with the 24" Sony 3D TV, even after pulling the game from  the bundle and replacing it with MotorStorm: Apocalypse. This is, however, for a limited time. After September 3rd, you will no longer be able to get Resistance 3 with the bundle.

A 24" 3D TV just doesn't cut it for me. The smallest TV I play games on is 48". Going from my 65" in my living room to 55" in my man-cave was hard enough. I can't see me ever downgrading that far. By no means am I saying this is a bad deal, but I just don't see a market for 24" monitors/TV's. Prove me wrong.
The bundle will include:
 - 24" 1080p 240hz Sony TV that will allow to users to see two different images, and includes a built-in subwoofer
 - HDMI Cable
 - Resistance 3 and/or Motorstorm: Apocalypse

Wal-Mart Rollback For 4GB Xbox 360 Kinect Bundle An "Error"

MjolnirX - It seems Wal-Mart erroneously posted that the 4GB Xbox 360 Kinect Bundle had been "rolled back" to $249 (down from the standard $299). It is not a roll-back, but in fact just an error.

Wal-Mart has since released a notice stating:
We made a mistake in our advertising circular for Sunday, August 29 - Monday, September 5, 2011. On page 19, we advertised an Xbox 360 4GB Console with Kinect for $249. The price was mistakenly labeled as a rollback.
We will honor the $249 retail from Sunday, August 28 - Monday, September 5, 2011, while supplies last. We will not be able to offer rainchecks for this item.
We apologize for the error. We hate to cause you any confusion or inconvenience. We always appreciate your shopping with us and we look forward to saving you even more.

Kinect Star Wars Delayed Indefinitely

Thursday, 25 August 2011 5 comments

MjolnirX - It appears that Kinect Star Wars has been suspended indefinitely. The troubled game has been put on hiatus due to the developer's dissatisfaction with the product thus far. Because the game has been put on the back burner, so too has the limited edition Star Wars themed Xbox 360.
Microsoft to Kotaku:
Microsoft and LucasArts have elected to move the launch of Kinect Star Wars beyond holiday 2011 to ensure the full potential of this title is realized. This move applies to both the Kinect Star Wars stand-alone game and the Kinect Star Wars Limited Edition Console. We will communicate additional timing information at a later date.

Gamestop Pulls PC Version Of Deus Ex: Human Revolution From Shelves

Wednesday, 24 August 2011 0 comments

MjolnirX - Gamestop has decided to pull the PC version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution from its store shelves because it contains a redemption code for the OnLive version of the game. This redemption for OnLive is in direct conflict with Gamestop's possibly soon-to-be-announced (maybe?) online game streaming service. Gamestop will still honor all returns and pre-orders, but it will no longer be possible to buy the game from the shelf. Console versions will still be available for purchase.

MjolnirX - Microsoft has announced a new 250GB Xbox 360 bundle. It will be $299.00 and come with download codes for 5 of some of the Xbox 360's biggest hits: Alan Wake, Gears of War 2, Halo 3, Fable 3 and Halo Wars. This is an amazing deal, and available for a limited time.
