Amazon Kindle Fire - 7" Android

Wednesday, 28 September 2011 2 comments

Amazon has decided that it will be the one that can stand up to the iPad 2's  (or iPad 3) dominance. The contestant is Amazon's Kindle Fire, a 7" Tablet that will feature the Android Operating Software. At $199, it will lose some of the most sought-after features for most tablets such as an embedded camera, 3g network access, and a microphone. It will have wi-fi, however. It seems it will make most of its use with off-line apps.

The Kindle Fire will feature all of the Android's crazy popular games such as Crazy Birds, and Cut The Rope! Since Amazon has their own marketplace, lush with many great apps, and as well as a free app of the day, this tablet may just take off. I'm hoping it will, at least.

El Shaddai To Grace Android Phones

Friday, 16 September 2011 0 comments

El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron will be coming to the Android platform. Though the original console version has both 2D and 3D segments, the Android version will only be 2D. It will, however, maintain the beautiful art style of the original game. El Shaddai is only slated for release in Japan, so far. Knowing Android, it'll take about 2 seconds for it to be uploaded for North Americans.

Actually Scary: Dead Space Now On Playbook, Xperia Play

Friday, 19 August 2011 0 comments

MjolnirX - For whatever reason, EA Games decided to port the mobile version of Dead Space to Blackberry's Playbook. I'm not exactly sure the market or demand for games necessarily even exists on the Playbook, but that remains to be seen. I see this as more of a rare feature for the Playbook, as opposed to attempting to start a new market for core games on Blackberry's app store.

As for the Xperia Play, the so called "ROM King", I would consider this too little, too late. The phone is almost 6 months old now, has pretty much no new games since launch aside from this one (and even the launch games are laughable). It is relying mostly on Android games with dedicated controls built-in specifically for the Xperia Play (like Pocket Legends). Having considered this phone and having been lied to by Rogers, who told me that you can purchase any and all PSP games on it, as well as the type and speed of the RAM and Processor, I'm not exactly enthused with its release.

I'm not too sure that either device, being in their own niche away from the popularity of Android mobile phones, and Apple's iPad, should really be considered for gaming. The effort put into porting them is time that could have been better spent elsewhere.

The games will release at the $10 price point.
