Zampella And West To Go To Court In May

Saturday 10 September 2011 3 comments

Infinity Ward Co-founders Jason West and Vince Zampella will finally get their day in court to fight against part-time Call of Duty publisher Activison. The trial is set for May 7th, 2012 in Los Angeles.

Infinity Ward created the first Call of Duty game for PC, and has created a many other Call of Duty games in staggered releases, Including the Modern Warfare series, along with Treyarch. The duo are suing Activision for fraud, saying they were defrauded when Activision fired them before any royalties were paid for the creation and massive success of Modern Warfare.

On top of the payments, they seek to have an annulment of the original exclusivity contract, so that they may develop new Call of Duty games under their new company, Respawn Entertainment.

The Sims Social Now More Popular Than Farmville

The Sims Social, the new crazy fad taking over on facebook that litters your newsfeed with "YOUR FRIEND HAS SENT YOU A THE SIMS SOCIAL REQUEST" has taken over Zynga's Farmville for daily active users. The player retention for the game is pretty good as well, with the average user spending 15-20 minutes per session online.

The Sims Social sees 9.3 Million users per day, while Farmville still sees a surprising 8.1 Million. Right now, the top dog is Zynga's Cityville, with 13.9 Million users.

Genre First Person Shooter, Sandbox

Apparently, the super-duperly graphic (actual term) game Crysis is coming to a console of choice near you, unless you only own a Wii, but I don't see any 40 year old women reading my posts, so moot point. GTTV has announced that Crysis 1 in all its superb graphical glory will be available on the Xbox Live Marketplace, and the Playstation Network. The game will have several new features, including a more lighting effects, and new nanosuit abilities. It will also support stereoscopic 3D for those who feel the game wasn't good enough as it was.

The game is slated to come out some time in October, and will cost 1600MP, or $19.99.

Devil May Cry 1,2 and 3 Rated By ESRB For PS3, 360

Today, the ESRB has publicly re-categorized Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 2 and Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening. This gives credence to the long-running rumor of an HD-remake for the PS3, and Xbox 360. Here's to hoping!

Gamestop To Start Buying Used iOS Devices

It seems that Gamestop is going to start purchasing and selling those weary, old-school iOS devices off of you after a wide-scale announcement. Gamestop (and EB Games) will be implementing this program within the next few weeks. According to Joystiq, they currently already accept your old iOS devices, but haven't started selling them yet. This is likely in an effort to build up a decent stock, and to make all the ipods "certified refurbished".

"Steam Trading" Live... Now!

Out of the beta, and into the wide open, Steam Trading is now available to everyone. Steam Trading is the program that allows people to trade in-game items with one another. Even though it is live, it is still very limited in that you can only trade in-game items in Team Fortress 2, Portal 2, and Spiral Knights.

The program also allows you to trade your games which were bought as gifts to be traded for in game items as well. Nifty!

Head over to Joystiq for the full article and more info.

Dear God, No.

Take that "actually working for a living"

It seems someone, somewhere doesn't want you to sleep. They want you to spend all night debating on forums and IRC's over who or what gave Uwe Boll the money to make another movie. This time, though, he's not ruining your favorite classic or arcade game, he's just going to ruin some weird IP no one has ever heard of. The movie is entitled "Zombie Massacre" and will probably suck. Here is the intro for the 1998 Amiga game the film is based off of:

Monday 5 September 2011 2 comments

Konami's PSP remake of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD Edition will feature online multiplayer through PSN and Xbox Live. This will act the same as any other Xbox Live or PSN game, in that you do not need to do any crazy PS3-PSP black magic to get it to work. the games will also run in 60 FPS, even with 4 players.

Save Point Is Under Construction

Sunday 4 September 2011 0 comments

Due to several unforeseen circumstances, there will be less posting over the course of the next few days, while I work on the new layout of the site. I'm going to be implementing a mix of flash and HTML, which will make up a majority of my time instead of regular posting. But fear not, I will post several of the more important stories of the day. I'm hoping to have the new lay out on my site live by Monday night, or Tuesday night, hopefully.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - Hardened Edition $99

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - Hardened Edition will be priced at the... modest $99 point. With what it contains, and the MSRP of all of it, the price isn't too bad. It's probably $59.99 for the game itself, and $50 for the Elite Access, you'd be saving $10 plus getting a few extra goodies. The box includes:

  •  Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 game with unique disc art.
  •  One year of membership in Call of Duty Elite.
  •  “Founder status” on Elite with exclusive in-game emblem, player card, camouflage, clan XP boost and other exclusive benefits.
  •  SteelBook case.
  •  PlayStation Network exclusive: “Animated Timeline Theme.”
  •  Xbox 360 exclusive: “Special Ops Juggernaut Xbox Live Outfit.”
  •  Limited-edition “field journal” with more than 100 pages of “authentic military sketches, diagrams and written entries.”
